अष्टावक्र गीता - भावपद्यानुवाद (सत्तावनवीं कड़ी)

                                     अठारहवाँ अध्याय (१८.९१-१८.९५)                                                                                                       (With English connotation)

शुभ व अशुभ सभी कर्मों में, जिसका भाव समान है रहता|

चाहे वह नृप या भिक्षुक हो, वह निष्काम सुशोभित रहता|| (१८.९१)

Whether king or beggar, one who is free from

desire and maintains equanimity in good or bad

acts, excels in life. (18.91)

सरल रूप, निष्कपट जो योगी, उसको है संकोच क्या होता?   

क्या स्वच्छंद, क्या तत्वज्ञान है, चरित्रवान योगी जो होता? (१८.९२)

For the Yogi who is simple and guileless, there is

neither dissolute behaviour nor virtue. Even the

discrimination of truth has no meaning for him. (18.92)

तृप्त स्व-रूप में स्थित हो कर, आशा, दुःख से रहित है रहता|

कौन व्यक्त कर सकता उसको, वह आनंद जो अनुभव करता|| (१८.९३)

Who can describe the pleasure of the person, who

is satisfied being established in self and is free from

pleasure and pain. (18.93)

वह सो कर भी नहीं है सोता, जाग्रत रह कर भी न जगता|

स्वप्न देख, न स्वप्न देखता, ज्ञानी पद पद तृप्त है रहता|| (१८.९४)

The wise man, who is contented in all circumstances,

is not sleeping even when asleep, is not awakened

even when awake and does not dream even when

dreaming. (18.94)

चिंता युक्त भी निश्चिंत है ज्ञानी, इन्द्रिय युक्त, रहित इन्द्रिय से|

बुद्धि युक्त, निर्बुद्धि है ज्ञानी, अहंकार युक्त, है मुक्त अहम् से|| (१८.९५)

The Yogi is free from thought even when thinking,

is without senses among senses, is without

understanding even while understanding every

thing and is devoid of any sense of responsibility

even when endowed with ego. (18.95)
